Our Acting Music Director
Jeff Olmsted founded and directed the Interfaith Fellowship Choir in NYC, and the Dayton Peace Choir in Ohio. Since returning to his hometown (Northampton) in 2010, Jeff has directed church choirs there and in Haydenville. He also directs Valley Jazz Voices. His opera about Jonathan Edwards was staged at Bombyx early in 2025.
South’s longtime Director of Music retired in May 2025. Jeff Olmsted began as South’s Acting Music Director in June 2025 and we are lucky that he will serve in this capacity through June 2026. In this period we are exploring new styles of music in worship, drawing out the voice of the congregation and clarifying what we are looking for in our next season of Music Ministry as South.
